A Pinterest sale

If you happen to be in New York City, you may notice the word SALE on store window after store window. New York has really been suffering from retail depression. Being in the center of New York design district, facing store windows with "Going out of business Sale", "Grand opening Sale",can really be depressing, especially when business is on the more "morose" side. Time for a  FLOOR MOVE ! These two words, floor move, mean floor planning, bringing furniture in from the warehouse, moving furniture, re -arranging, changing our mind, this armoire (300 plus pounds) goes upstairs...it looks out of place, back downstairs... keeping in mind our furniture is not lightweight, heavy steel, solid wood, large sofas, tables, buffet. Finally we have a plan that works, enhancing the mood and lines of the furniture, showing the possibilities of beautifully appointed eclectic rooms. At that point, we are starved, no time to eat, exhausted and our backs are wrecked... Movers gone, we now need to "merchandise". Pacing back and forth, throws piled up, lamps and accessories on tables, we must create  a visual that is both enticing and yet restrained. The goal is not to pile up accessories on tables as in a table tops show, but present each piece as a unique important and curated object. this is actually the most challenging part of the day's turmoil...late into the evening, exhausted to the point of not wanting to move a muscle any more, we take one last look...This was worth it! the showroom feels revived, welcoming the fall and winter to come with its warm soothing tones, its soft thick cashmere throws and pillows, Chaises and sofas to nap or read..warm glow of handmade lamps .

Now time to advertise our SALE to our clients, no huge sign on the window, simply an email blast with a link to our Pinterest flash sale board. I am border line addicted to Pinterest and actually use the secret boards to collect inspirations for my clients... We worked on a secret board with all items on sale with description and pricing and made it live yesterday. Clients called, came in, kept commenting how beautiful the showroom is and...YES, they did buy!

Interieurs via... Interior Connector

I spend hours every week sourcing products for clients. I feel that, as a designer, I must be aware of new products, materials, lighting, shops, websites...  As a furniture designer and manufacturer as well as owner of the Interieurs Showroom and website, I am also constantly looking for new platforms to present the Interieurs Collections...we are currently on 1st Dibs.com, AD.com, Decorati, Home Portfolio and of course, Interieurs.com. Outside of our website, I had no other venue to present the Interieurs Collection as a powerful brand until I met... Beth Neuhaus.

I met Beth a couple of months ago in our showroom and it was... sold at first sight... Beth is brilliant, energetic and left the legal world for the creative field of design. She is investing all her talent and energy into a new medium that will transform the way we source products and ideas.

Below, our Interieurs page on Interior Connector

Beth's website Interior Connector is an online platform showcasing luxury home furnishings offered by the independent showrooms, boutique or designer/architects with their own line. The stories behind each trend setter and tastemakers give an insight into the collections and people behind them.

Are you slightly curious to find out more about yours truly... just click on a short recent interview

Whether I am working on a new collection, or a client project, I need to be inspired, feel the space or the collection and when I start the creative process, I need to know who is behind each piece of furniture, is it an artist? which period was it built? what materials was/were used? ... no single website could completely satisfy such an inquiry until Beth introduced Interior Connector.

Interior Connector is making its debut and I cannot wait to see how far it is going to take us... I remember when Michael Bruno started his website from Paris years ago... I think that Beth has all it takes to build a strong platform where great design can be accessed effortlessly.

A party for AMARA....

Interieurs introduces the Amara Collection designed by Francine Gardner and Interieurs' designer Greg Glidden

The party is over.....I always asked myself...what am i doing this for? it takes an enormous amount of energy to throw a party and to what aim? the goal of this event was to introduce our Amara Collection.

I have owned an Ethiopian wooden grain harvest for years. A few months ago, for our store opening, I placed the large ethiopian piece in the entry where it looked really stunning. One morning in june, as I walked into the showroom, I looked at the piece and suddenly I had an image of a collection based on this wooden piece....instant inspiration. I shared my vision with Greg, our in store head designer and together, we collaborated on our new collection...AMARA which is the name for Paradise in ethiopian.

The MAKENA armoire, hand carved mahogany panels. We designed the handles, hand made, specifically for this collection.

Jason Kontos, Editor In Chief of New York Spaces co-sponsored the event. Tara Guerard the incredibly talented event designer (see  www.taraguerardsoiree.com)transformed the showroom into the coolest lounge on a non existing budget....one cannot find a better friend......the evening was perfect, warm with a slight breeze, candles glittering, music, great people, wonderful conversations. The terrace became the perfect night spot where guest could lounge on daybeds, deep sofas....

Estera, Interieurs design Studio project Manager designed the 20ft high background

Isn't amazing how Tara can transform a dead tree

The terrace is getting ready for the event...specially made tablecloths, pillows, arrived at 6:30 Event due to start at 6:30....a marathon

For pics. of the party you can check into the next edition of New York spaces. By the time the party started, I had no clue as to the whereabouts of my camera.....
