Chalet in Meribel,France via Elle Decoration
No white Christmas in Connecticut this year. I long for snow, mountains and skiing. When I am asked to design ski houses, I tend to gravitate towards a warm comforting style, rich wood, comfortable furniture, spaces designed for all generations to enjoy, accommodating parents, grand parents, children and friends in a nurturing atmosphere, casual and carefree.
These are my vision and ideal spaces, would it be in the Alps, the Rockies, the Tetons or the Andes (my favorite ski haunts)

Hi Francine, what a scrumptious post!! Reminds me of when we went to Switzerland about 8 years ago, what a beautiful wonderful place! You have designed my ultimate dream ski house/chalet..oozing with charm, elegance, and refined rustic beauty...perfection!
ReplyDeleteFrancine-
ReplyDeleteThese images are of some of the coziest places I have seen. I also would love to be in the snow somewhere, anywhere.
Strange how I can identify the work of my favorite hometown designer Bobby McAlpine. Love the way our signature is attached to our work.
Have a nice 2012.

Hi Francine, how cozy, stylish and inviting. A dream places to return from frosty outdoors. I love cross country skiing but still no snow in Toronto.
ReplyDeleteHave a Happy 2012 !

I'll go skiing with you anytime if these are the homes we will be snoozing in after a long day of hitting the slopes. LOL. I'm with you on ski homes...warm, cozy, relaxing and stylish. I'll be hitting the slopes out west this winter and look forward to the trip. Inviting images.
ReplyDeleteThese images are stunning. Love the warm and cozy spaces and perfect for any chalet!!
ReplyDeleteDear Francine,

So cozy!! I don't ski.... I tried ONCE... bad experience! Would probably make a very comical blog post. That doesn't stop me from wanting to cuddle up with a warm throw in front of a fire with a good book in one of these lovely rooms. Thanks so much for your comment over at my blog today I really appreciated it! xo
ReplyDeleteThese are absolutely gorgeous examples!!!!! I love every single image!

Love them all. I've written about Les Fermes de Marie several times even though I've never been there!! I've always wanted to do a family alpine vacation - those fireplaces all look so very appealing!
ReplyDeleteI have read a few just right stuff here. Definitely price bookmarking for revisiting. I wonder how a lot effort you place to create this kind of fantastic informative website.
